The first thing to keep in mind when holding your rope while doing your jump rope workout is to keep your fingers forward over the tips. This will make your grip tighter and more stable, which is essential for maintaining control and preventing slipping. To achieve even more control, hold yourself in the same body and arm position while jumping rope. It may take some practice to find the grip that works best for you, but most players find that a fist-and-palm grip or a palm-and-palm grip works well for smaller ropes, especially for younger players or those with short arms.

Another important tip is to focus on your fingertips. The fingertip position gives most players the best grip and the best feeling. While holding your hand on the rope, bring the tip of your index finger up along with your thumb and rest your pinkie on top of that. Keep that position for at least 5 seconds, then switch and bring your other fingers up and rest them on top of that. Repeat this exercise at least 8-10 times, switching hands as necessary.

Finally, if you find that your thumb tends to slip or move out of position, try keeping the back of your thumb in the center of the grip between the fingers.
