Are you here because you have missed an important jump?

That means: we are here because we made a tiny error that affected our jump.

But that’s not the whole story. Because jumping is an extremely complex and critical skill, that we need to master, we have to put some of our energy, not only into doing well, or better, but also into making sure that our tiny errors don’t make any major mistakes. First, let me explain in simple words what jumps and slides are. A slide is a small, smooth curve in the way we climb up (or walk down) a ramp (slope).

jumping over cliff

A jump is a long, fast, abrupt curve in the way we climb up (or walk down) a ramp. Of course, as you go up (or down) a ramp, you always have to remember to make a smooth transition from one small surface to the next; you don’t want to make a big jump or lose your balance. So, if you have a ramp that takes you from one surface (say carpet) to another surface (say hard wood) and you are climbing up (or walking down), you have to make a smooth transition from one surface to the next. How can you make a smooth transition? You would like to walk (or climb) from the carpet to the hard wood. You will see that what matters is the smooth transition from carpet to hard wood. But when you climb up (or down) the ramp, there are two important things you have to concentrate on: First, that you make a smooth transition from one surface to the next. Second, that you don’t lose your balance.

⚓ 😓

Do it correctly, and you will be very happy. If you do it correctly, you can make a smooth transition from one surface to another, and you will not have any problem with your balance. But if your mistake is too big, you will end up falling right down. So, there is a little important problem in the transition from the carpet to hard wood: you have to make a big jump. It’s the same with a small jump. It’s the same with a big jump: you also have to make a small jump.
